Tracey L. Young, RP, a litigation paralegal for the E. Stewart Jones Law Firm in Troy, NY, was recently elected as the President of the National Federation of Paralegal Associations, Inc. (NFPA). Ms. Young has more than 25 years of experience as a paralegal. Prior to her election as President, Ms. Young served as NFPA’s Vice President and Director of Positions and Issues from 2008 to 2010 and as Region V Director from 2007 to 2008.
Ms. Young is a strong advocate of regulation of the paralegal profession and proponent of continuing legal education for paralegals. She is a member and former President of the Capital District Paralegal Association. She is also a member of the Albany County Bar Association, Capital District Trial Lawyers Association and the New York State Trial Lawyers Association.
Ms. Young earned a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology magna cum laude from the University of Virginia where she was also awarded membership in the Phi Beta Kappa Society. She has a Master of Science in Urban Planning from Columbia University and a paralegal certificate from the American Institute of Paralegal Studies. In addition, Ms. Young has been a PACE Registered Paralegal for ten years, having passed the Paralegal Advanced Competency Exam (PACE) in 2000.
